Copyright Law

I  think copyright laws are in need of some changes but not that much because it does have some fairness to it.  Copyright laws protect the works of those who create it and give them a sense of onwnership.  Many people argue that because of copyright laws because of the extensions if has on its owners work that through time they would be put out of the public domain and perhaps not recieve credits for their works being used.  There may be some flaws to it but copyright laws in the United States is not as bad as the laws in other countries.  United States have fair use of copyright and the interest as well of rights of the users are considered with fair use while the other countries have fair dealing which is more limited than fair use.  It is limited by news reporting, critcism, and type of use.  Fair use is not availible in other countries they recieve some form of protection but there is a large restriction on what they use.  If there is to be a change in copyright laws I would say the focus would be on the countries outside of the United States since the fair use doesnt exist for them.  In the United States it doesnt make any sense to have any form of restrictions on anybody’s work because tax payers paid for the creation of the work.  In other countries their are asked to have a license in order to use the work and in the United States that is not needed.  The issue of copyright being unfair should be focused on the countries outside of the U.S. because they are not so generous.  The issue with the U.S is the before we can sue for infringement we have to register with a copyright office which may be outdated.  Another issue is that copyright holders are not granted the moral rights protection for their work which can lead to problems with naming rights and creative control.  Copyright laws has its issues in the U.S. but its not as bad as people make it out to be and the issues with copyright laws mostly stem from countries outside of the U.S.

Search tools that I used

The search tool that I used in Part two was google.  I chose to use Google because it provided various sites that contained accurate information.  The evaluation criteria that i used to choose the two websites is the role of corroboration because I was able to focus on several sites in order to pair up the two sites that seem to be more accurate with some sort of relation to each other.

My first online class

My name is Anneka Davis and am a student at Laguardia Community College.  I am taking an online class because I thought it would be a good idea to get the work done on my own time since I am doing my internship and taking other classes.  This is my last semester upon graduation and am short of one credit so that’s another reason why i decided to take this class.  I hope to learn something new from this class so that at the end i can say well at least i got something out of it.  I never had to create a blog before so i guess I can say i learned something new already.  As far as my other classes I am currently attending psychology, group dynamics, and Hsm 204 which relates to my internship.  When i graduate from Laguardia I plan to became a mental health assistant since I’m a human service major.  I also plan to attend a four year college and perhaps receive my bachelors in physical therapy.  I am looking forward to a pleasant future so I will continue to work hard to reach my goals.
